Iraq war

This year 10C2 (my class) are going on a school trip to Berlin. Since this is our last year at Engebråten, everyone in 10 grade travel to a country in almost a week.  We travel to Berlin the 11 September.  In Berlin we are going to focus on World War 2. But in this letter I will wright about the Iraq War.

The Iraq War

The war in Iraq was, and in many ways still is, a terrible war. Many human lives got and still get lost.  The Iraq war or the Second Gulf War or Operation Iraqi Freedom as it is also called, began on March 20. 2003. There was a conflict between USA/UK and Iraq.

 It was USA that started the war with the invasion under the administration of president Bush and UK under prime minister Blair. The reason were that USA and UK meant that Iraq hided weapons of mass destruction and had secret program for use of atom weapons. They all so meant that Iraq supported Al Quida. The last reason USA gave to go to war, was to remove the undemocratic terror regime under Saddam Hussein.

A survey from UN representative Hans Blix did not find chemical and biological weapons or atomic weapons before the invasion.

Many says that the USA led war against Iraq did not begin in 2003. They say that USA and UK started just after the Gulf war in 1991 to get control over Iraq’s  huge oil reserves .  

It has also been a conflict between the Kurds in the north and Saddam Hussein for a long time, a conflict between Iran and Iraq and an internal conflict between the Shia and the Sunni Muslims, which we still see.

The USA troops took Saddam Hussein and opened up for a democratic election. After the election USA and  UK started to leave Iraq. They still have troops left and it is still groups fighting the regime with terror.  The people of Iraq are still hoping and waiting  for a peaceful solution.
